WilmerHale is excited to welcome you to our second Financial Services Regulatory Forum in our New York office.
Hosted by WilmerHale’s Securities and Financial Services Department and Public Policy and Legislative Affairs Practice, this half-day, in-person program will feature a plenary session led by Partner and Chair of WilmerHale’s Securities and Financial Services Department Stephanie Avakian on “The State of Financial Services Regulation After the 2024 Election.” Joined by Kenneth Bentsen, President and CEO of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) and Dan Gallagher, Chief Legal, Compliance and Corporate Affairs Officer of Robinhood, this session will discuss how the 2024 presidential and congressional elections could impact financial services regulation and policymaking.
A second plenary session featuring WilmerHale Partners Elizabeth L. Mitchell, Andrew Rhys Davies, Kelly P. Dunbar and Noah A. Levine will highlight “Recent SCOTUS and Appellate Court Rulings and Future Implications.” Panelists will look back at pivotal recent Supreme Court and appellate court cases and look forward to the financial services litigation docket for the coming months.
Attendees will then join one of four concurrent breakout sessions led by senior executives from financial institutions to discuss regulatory agendas and enforcement in banking, derivatives markets, broker-dealer and investment management. Topics include:
- Bank Regulation in 2025: Expectations and Predictions for the Financial Services Industry
- From Election to Inauguration: Hot Topics and Predictions in Futures and Derivatives Regulation
- SEC and FINRA Expectations in an Evolving AI and Technology Landscape: How to Navigate the Good, the Bad and the Unpredictable in 2025
- How Far Is Too Far? Key Trends in Regulation and Enforcement in the Investment Management Space
The day will conclude with a lunch and fireside chat with WilmerHale Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Public Policy and Government Affairs Practice Jonathan R. Yarowsky and Senior Public Policy Advisor Rob Lehman, along with Matthew Hoffman, Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs at Digital Asset and Mark Schuermann, Managing Director and Head of Public Affairs at HSBC. The fireside chat will focus on the incoming presidential administration and congressional leadership, including the First 100 Days agenda.
