WilmerHale is pleased to announce the return of Siddharth Velamoor, a former federal prosecutor and experienced crisis manager and litigator, as a partner in the firm's Litigation and Controversy Department and its Commercial Litigation Group. Velamoor, who was an associate and counsel at the firm earlier in his career, will be resident in the firm’s Washington, DC office and advise clients nationwide.
"We are thrilled to welcome Sid back," said Anjan Sahni, WilmerHale’s managing partner. "His extensive experience in managing complex litigation and regulatory matters, combined with his deep understanding of the aviation and technology sectors, will be invaluable to our clients.”
Velamoor rejoins WilmerHale after serving as a federal prosecutor and, more recently, as an executive in Boeing’s Law & Global Compliance Organization. At Boeing, he helped direct the company’s response to high-stakes investigations and regulatory matters, its defense of complex litigation in US and foreign courts, and recent enhancements to its aircraft production and quality systems.
He also regularly counseled senior business leaders when engaging with regulators, customers and suppliers on compliance and sustainability developments in the aerospace industry, including regulations addressing environmental and human rights standards in global manufacturing operations and supply chains.
Before Boeing, Velamoor served for five years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Seattle, and as a member in that Office’s Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Program. In that role, he successfully worked on significant cases, including the prosecution of a major Chinese telecommunications provider for intellectual property crimes, counterterrorism investigations against nonstate actors on which he partnered with foreign law enforcement agencies and cybercrimes prosecutions involving the world’s largest technology companies. He tried multiple cases to verdict, argued before the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and participated in outreach to minority and underrepresented communities.
"I could not be more excited to return to WilmerHale,” said Velamoor. “I have long admired the firm’s unparalleled commitment to tireless advocacy, sophisticated counsel and superlative outcomes—traits that drew me to the firm as a young lawyer, and which I have seen firsthand when working alongside the firm’s dedicated professionals in recent years. I look forward to partnering with the firm’s talented litigators and counselors to deliver exceptional results on our clients’ most consequential disputes, investigations and regulatory challenges.”
Velamoor earned his JD from Columbia University, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and his AB from Dartmouth College. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Honorable David O. Carter, United States District Court for the Central District of California.
