WilmerHale Advises Omeat in $40M Financing

On June 22, Omeat Inc., a Los Angeles-based startup, has secured $40 million in funding as it emerges from stealth mode, introducing its approach to scaling cultivated meat production. Driven by a mission to create a sustainable and humane alternative to traditional meat production, Omeat aims to transform the industry with its innovative solution.

Led by tissue engineer Dr. Ali Khademhosseini, Omeat was established four years ago and quickly gained recognition for its approach. The company initially secured $3.5 million in seed funding in 2021, followed by a $36.5 million in series A funding in 2022. The series A round was led by venture capital firms S2G Ventures, Google Ventures (GV), Bold Capital Partners, Tyson Ventures, Rethink Food, Trailhead Capital and Cavallo Ventures.

The WilmerHale legal team representing Omeat was led by Gary Schall, which also included Bruce Manheim, Michaela Rosen and Shawn Sullivan.
