On April 16, Bok Professor Gary Born will return to Penn Law for a talk on some of the latest developments in the field of international arbitration. Specifically, his lecture will outline a new form of international dispute resolution—"bilateral arbitration treaties" (or "BATs")—which would provide for the resolution of international commercial disputes by arbitration. Professor Born will place the proposed BAT dispute resolution mechanism in its historical perspective, focusing in particular on parallels with bilateral investment treaties ("BITs"), and will also discuss the potential objections to his proposal ("Buts...").
Date: April 16, 2014
Time: 12–1:15 p.m.
Place: University of Pennsylvania Law School
