Part I: The SEC

In Part I, WilmerHale partner and co-chair of the firm’s Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Working Group Tiffany J. Smith will lead a discussion with Partner William McLucas and Special Counsel Matthew Beville from the Securities and Financial Services Department, Senior Counsel Eric Lesser from the Regulatory Department, and Public Policy Advisor Jeffrey Wieand from the Public Policy and Legislative Affairs Group. The panelists will discuss approaches the SEC, under new leadership in the Trump administration, could take with respect to:
- enforcement of the securities laws against crypto market participants;
- issuing crypto-specific guidance; and
- engaging in crypto-specific rulemaking.
Panelists also will discuss the status of crypto specific legislation and provide insights on what to expect from state securities regulators going forward.
Part II: The Treasury and Banking Regulators

In Part II, WilmerHale partner and co-chair of the firm’s Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Working Group Zachary Goldman will lead a discussion with Partner Michael Dawson, Senior Counsel Julie Williams, Public Policy Advisor Jeffrey Wieand and Associate Reshma Lutfeali. The panelists will discuss approaches the Treasury and banking regulators, under new leadership in the Trump administration, could take with respect to:
- the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC);
- the Federal Reserve; and
- AML and sanctions.
