During this program, WilmerHale partners Fred Adam, Zachary Goldman, Frank Gorman, John Wells and Isabel Dai will discuss the US Department of the Treasury’s oversight of crypto and how this could impact market participants, as well as the regulation of crypto by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The panelists will discuss:
- the overall approach to crypto by the US Department of the Treasury;
- the FTC’s ambitious role as a new regulator of consumer protection issues related to crypto;
- the CFPB’s analysis and management of consumer complaints related to crypto-assets; and
- how the IRS oversees transactions, including the sale, transfer or exchange of crypto.
