Join WilmerHale and the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) for an interactive panel discussion with Guantanamo lawyers on their seminal work on landmark cases, such as Boumediene v. Bush, and the current legal and political landscape surrounding the Guantanamo Bay prison.
The speakers will provide an overview of the following topics:
- CCR's initial representations of Guantanamo Bay prisoners and coordination of the pro bono habeas bar;
- Rasul (2004), Boumediene (2008) and other key federal cases;
- the current challenges litigating within the DC Circuit and military commissions system; and
- policy and politics, including the President's recent closure plan.
This program is being planned with the intention of offering California and non-transitional New York CLE credit. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served after the panel.
