Although initial reports suggested that Latin America was avoiding the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic, recent information and case data make clear the region faces serious health and economic challenges from the crisis. Governments throughout Latin America have implemented legal and regulatory measures to address and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, but the COVID-19 landscape in Latin America remains dynamic, and is evolving rapidly. This Client Alert provides a snapshot of the current state of affairs, including an overview of the legal and regulatory responses undertaken by several key Latin American countries, along with their plans and actions to reopen their economies.
