Caroline Geist-Benitez’s practice focuses on high-stakes internal and government investigations, including white collar criminal and anti-discrimination matters.

Ms. Geist-Benitez has represented companies, financial institutions, universities, and individuals in a broad range of complex investigations and enforcement proceedings in the United States and abroad.  She has experience representing clients in matters involving the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and international regulators related to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the False Claims Act, as well as allegations of securities and financial fraud, money laundering, and fair lending violations.  Her matters often involve conduct in foreign jurisdictions, including in Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Ms. Geist-Benitez also conducts sensitive internal investigations and reviews of company culture following reports of sexual misconduct, harassment, and discrimination, as well as civil rights and equity audits focused on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, Ms. Geist-Benitez provides strategic counseling to clients on regulatory compliance programs, risk assessments, and crisis management.

Ms. Geist-Benitez shares the firm’s commitment to pro bono work, with a focus on immigration and women’s rights issues.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Geist-Benitez was a litigation and enforcement associate at the New York and Washington, DC offices of a large international law firm. While pursuing her legal education, Ms. Geist-Benitez served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ann C. Williams of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
