Denis Hurley represents corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts, at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as in arbitral forums.

Mr. Hurley has litigated cases involving all manner of claims and issues, including, among others, breach of contract claims, tort claims, patent claims, bid protests, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, the False Claims Act, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and its state-level equivalents, and state consumer protection and unfair competition claims.

Mr. Hurley has represented both plaintiffs and defendants through many stages of litigation from drafting and filing an initial complaint or motion to dismiss, through fact and expert discovery, dispositive motions and any subsequent appeals.

Mr. Hurley also maintains an active pro bono practice. His pro bono work has included state court criminal appeals, veterans’ benefits appeals and representing an ethics watchdog in FOIA litigation.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Mr. Hurley was an associate for a major Washington DC–based litigation firm. Mr. Hurley previously clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Chagares of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Thomas C. Wheeler of the US Court of Federal Claims.
