Partner Seth Waxman will receive the American Jewish Committee’s Judge Learned Hand Award at a luncheon on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 12:00 PM at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC.
The Washington Chapter of the American Jewish Committee annually presents this prestigious award to an outstanding leader of the legal profession who demonstrates high principles in the tradition of the legendary Judge Learned Hand, late Senior Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Waxman is being honored for his valuable service to the nation and to Washington organizations both professional and non-profit.
Mr. Waxman, former Solicitor General of the United States, is universally considered to be among the country's premier appellate and trial advocates. A thoughtful teacher and writer as well, he is among a handful of practicing lawyers ever elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His sustained devotion to pro bono representation and public and community service has made him an exemplar of the finest traditions of the bar. The American Jewish Committee is honored to present Mr. Waxman with its 2007 Judge Learned Hand Award.
