Over the past decade, investigations into alleged corporate wrongdoing have included heightened scrutiny of the conduct of officers, directors and professionals - including in-house counsel. In many cases, these investigations have resulted in criminal charges against these individuals. In the past two months, a former GlaxoSmithKline in-house counsel was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice, and the SEC decided to review the case of a former general counsel who was accused of failing to control someone he supervised. This program will explore recent government actions and policy statements that focus on prosecuting corporate individuals.
