The Boston Globe and the Commonwealth Institute has published their annual Top 100 Women-Led Businesses list, which honors the most noteworthy companies and nonprofits helmed by women. WilmerHale ranked in the top 20 and was the only law firm to make the list. The rankings are based on revenue or operating budget and other variables, including number of full-time employees in the state, workplace and management diversity, and innovative projects.
WilmerHale is led by Co-Managing Partner Susan Murley and has been repeatedly recognized as a female-friendly firm through various awards. The firm's Guiding Principles encourage diversity and inclusion, and the Women's Leadership Initiative focuses on creating internal and external networks and business development, career advancement and training programs tailored to the needs and interests of women lawyers, as well as initiatives involving women clients and alumni.
WilmerHale's record regarding the retention and advancement of women compares very favorably against other law firms, and the firm is dedicated to being a leader and helping to move the entire profession forward. The firm takes pride in having been selected as a firm of choice for women in the last seven iterations of Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers' survey of Best Law Firms for Women. WilmerHale has also been recognized among the Top Ten Family Friendly Firms by Yale Law Women for five consecutive years.
