WilmerHale’s Intellectual Property Group has once again been recognized as one of the best in the nation at Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) magazine’s Annual North American Awards Ceremony. The firm brought home four distinct awards at the 6th annual celebration held on March 19 in Washington DC at the Willard InterContinental hotel: National Patent Contentious Firm of the Year, National Pharmaceutical IP Litigation Firm of the Year, Northeast Patent Contentious Firm of the Year, and the Milestone Patent Case of the Year for Apple v. Samsung, for which the firm’s co-counsel was also recognized. Additionally, WilmerHale Partner Bill Lee was awarded the Massachusetts Outstanding IP Litigator recognition.
WilmerHale has consistently been included in the World IP Survey results. For the past two years, the firm has been named the Patent Contentious Firm of the Year in the United States and Northeast (US) region. In 2012 the firm was also recognized in the categories of US Life Sciences/Biotech, US Pharmaceutical IP Litigation and US ITC, and Bill Lee and Seth Waxman were named “Outstanding IP Practitioners of the Year” on the basis of their exceptional appellate and IP work.
MIP’s North America Awards are the conclusion of more than six months of analysis by its team of researchers, who conduct hundreds of interviews with IP practitioners and IP owners in North America. The first result of this research was MIP’s annual survey, which ranks the leading firms in patent, trademark and copyright work in tiers and was published in the magazine between February and April this year. Based on the research, shortlists of firms that had an outstanding year in various categories were chosen and the winners of each for the US and Canada, including individual achievement, were announced at the annual awards dinner on March 19.
A list of the 2013 North America Award winners can be found on MIP’s website.
