WilmerHale is pleased to announce that Aaron Zebley is joining the firm today as a partner. Zebley, who has been both an FBI Special Agent and an Assistant United States Attorney, served as Chief of Staff to Robert S. Mueller III, the former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Zebley has most recently been Senior Counselor in the National Security Division at the Department of Justice. Prior to his role as Chief of Staff to former FBI Director Mueller, Zebley was a Special Agent of the FBI in the Counterterrorism Division for seven years. In between his two tours at the FBI, Zebley served as an Assistant US Attorney (AUSA) in the National Security and Terrorism Unit in Alexandria, Virginia. During his tenure as an AUSA, he investigated and prosecuted crimes related to national security, terrorism, and violent crime.
“Aaron's experience at the Bureau, Main Justice and the US Attorney's Office will add to our internal investigations, crisis management and cybersecurity capabilities,” said Robert Novick, co-managing partner of WilmerHale. “He will provide immeasurable value in areas where we are already strong and growing.”
“Building a practice in an environment with well-established investigations and cybersecurity groups was critical in my decision to join WilmerHale,” said Zebley. “There are great opportunities here for me to successfully bridge my background with the practice areas that I know best.”
Zebley earned his law degree in 1996 from the University of Virginia School of Law where he served as the Executive Editor of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. He received his undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude in 1992.
