As part of the African Arbitration Academy’s annual awards, the organization recognized Partner Gary Born as Best Lecture of the Year for his “Lecture on Arbitration Agreements” presented at Africa in the Moot. WilmerHale also received an award of appreciation for supporting the institution.

In addition, the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre won the award for innovation. Partner Steven Finizio sits on the SADRC management committee and serves as deputy director.

The Africa Arbitration Academy was established due to the rising demand for improved expertise and training of arbitration practitioners in Africa and to expose African practitioners to the current trends and developments in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration.
