On October 25, Senior Associate Keun Young Bae was recognized by the City Bar Justice Center (“CBJC”) with a 2023 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award. Keun Young was just one of ten recipients of this award, and was selected from the more than 1,800 volunteers who worked with the CBJC within the last year.
Keun Young was nominated for the award for her work with the Immigrant Justice Project, which assists asylum seekers fleeing persecution in their home countries, survivors of violent crimes and trafficking here in the United States, and individuals seeking humanitarian protection, and other forms of immigration relief.
“The most rewarding aspect of my pro bono immigration work has undoubtedly been the tangible impact I've been able to make on the lives of clients and their families, who are seeking refuge, stability, and new opportunities in the United States,” shared Keun Young. “My clients face complex legal systems that can be overwhelming, unfair, and inaccessible. I am thankful that, with unwavering support from both WilmerHale and the CBJC, I have been able to provide my clients with a fairer chance that their rights will be upheld and their stories will be heard.”
