WilmerHale has been named a Top Workplace for 2021 by The Washington Post for the eighth consecutive year.
This recognition is based solely on employee feedback to an anonymously conducted third-party survey by Energage, LLC, which partnered with The Washington Post on the annual project. More than 3,500 area companies were invited to participate and 413 were surveyed. The top companies were selected based on survey responses from more than 65,500 employees on topics ranging from employee development to innovation.
The survey measured various aspects of workplace culture and included the following categories:
- Alignment: where the company is headed, its values, cooperation, effective meetings
- Coaching: managers care about concerns, are helpful, encourage employee development
- Connection: employees feel appreciated, work is meaningful, working at full potential, feel informed
- Engagement: productivity, retention, recruiting
- Leadership: confidence in company leaders
- Performance: execution, open-mindedness, innovation, clued-in leadership
- The Basics: pay, benefits, work/life flexibility, training, expectations
“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “If covid taught us anything, it’s that asking questions and listening to employees is critical to navigating this new world of work. More than ever, you need to be more intentional about your culture.”
For this year’s list, 200 companies, including government contractors, real estate firms, professional and business services firms, law firms, and tech companies were included in the rankings under four categories: largest, large, midsize and small. Thirty-two companies made the 2021 large-size category list, with WilmerHale ranking third.
