Franz Schwarz Appointed to Serve on ICSID Panel of Conciliators

Recognition

The Republic of Austria has designated Partner Franz Schwarz to serve on the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Panel of Conciliators constituted at the World Bank in Washington DC. His six-year term begins today. 

Mr. Schwarz, who is based in WilmerHale’s London and Frankfurt offices, vice-chairs the firm’s International Arbitration Practice. He has extensive experience with arbitral practice, procedure and advocacy both in civil and common law systems.

Members of the ICSID Panel of Conciliators serve on conciliation commissions seeking to resolve international investment disputes between states and investors by clarifying the issues in dispute between the parties and endeavoring to bring about agreement between them on mutually acceptable terms. Mr. Schwarz has been involved in more than 250 arbitrations as counsel and arbitrator, including before the ICSID and other major arbitral institutions.
