The Lloyd Cutler Distinguished Visitorship at the American Academy, which has been supported by WilmerHale since 2008, brings renowned lawyers and diplomats from the US to Germany to exchange views with local thought leaders. With this support, the firm continues the cultural and intellectual heritage of Lloyd Cutler, who in 1962 co-founded with John Pickering the law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington DC. The American Academy in Berlin, of which Cutler was a founding trustee, is an American research and cultural institution with the goal of promoting scientific and cultural exchange between Germany and the United States.
