President Trump to Nominate Dan Berkovitz to CFTC

President Donald Trump has announced his intent to nominate WilmerHale Partner Dan Berkovitz to be a commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, for the remainder of a five year term that expires April 13, 2023. Berkovitz joined WilmerHale in 2013 after more than 30 years of government service in the Senate and several government agencies, including the CFTC where he served as General Counsel before joining the firm. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law School, where he teaches derivatives trading and regulation. 

The CFTC consists of five commissioners appointed by the President to serve staggered five-year terms. Currently, there are three CFTC Commissioners—Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo, Brian D. Quintenz and Rostin Behnam.   

The nomination is subject to confirmation by the US Senate.
