Law360 honored WilmerHale in the ‘Government Contracts’ category in its 2021 Practice Groups of the Year awards, which honor the attorney teams behind litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry this past year.
As noted in the firm’s profile, WilmerHale has assembled a large number of attorneys with years of trial experience or past work in "very high levels" of government or as in-house attorneys, according to practice group head Andrew Shipley, who added that the group was wired to take on "every aspect" of government contracting.
Some highlights include WilmerHale's government contracting lawyers framing the "winning argument" that convinced the U.S. Court of Federal Claims to sustain a challenge to the multibillion-dollar Logistics Civil Augmentation Program. Additionally, WilmerHale achieved successful results for client Teledyne in September 2020, when ethics concerns spurred the U.S. Government Accountability Office to recommend ending a NASA deal to develop and execute spaceflight operations.
Law360 selected 186 winning groups across 39 practice areas. In the awards' 12th year, the Practice Groups of the Year hailed from 91 law firms and rose to the top of nearly 900 submissions. In past years, WilmerHale has been recognized in several categories, including ‘Appellate’ and ‘International Trade,’ ‘Competition,’ ‘Technology,’ and ‘Native American.’
