Kirk Nahra, Co-Chair of WilmerHale’s Artificial Intelligence practice and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice, will be leading two sessions at the IAPP Privacy. Security. Risk. 2023 conference taking place in San Diego this October. Senior Associate Ali Jessani will also be participating in a panel discussion at the October IAPP conference.
WilmerHale is a silver sponsor of the conference.
Kirk’s first session, “Foundations of Privacy and Data Protection” will take place on Wednesday, October 4, from 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Attendees can expect a comprehensive training course for quickly teaching privacy fundamentals. Foundations training also teaches a common vocabulary that helps communicate data protection issues clearly between professionals and throughout organizations.
Kirk’s second session is titled “Law. Ethics. Technology. Uncertainty.” and will take place on Thursday, October 5, from 3:45–5 p.m. As technology continues to advance rapidly, regulators and lawmakers struggle to keep up. They must understand the technology and its effect on consumers, and then develop requirements tailored to perceived harms. For legal practitioners, this means anticipating where the law is going so we can protect our clients’ interests. During this session, Kirk will explore how to advocate for clients and defend regulators when the law is not yet developed or is moving rapidly.
Ali will join health technology industry professionals for a panel discussion, "How Technology Can Cure Compliance Woes for Health-Related Advertising” taking place on Thursday, October 5, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. This panel will unpack challenges and examine how advertising technology can help marketers meet their goals while respecting consumer privacy.
IAPP Privacy. Security. Risk. focuses on the intersection of privacy and technology. The 2023 agenda includes more than 50 breakout sessions on the biggest operational and technology topics in privacy today.
