Counsel Arpit Garg spoke on the panel "The New Era of Fraud Redeterminations: Post-Conn Cases Nationwide" at the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) 40th Anniversary Conference.
Panel Description: Representatives are aware of the Conn fraud case and the resulting redeterminations; however, this problem has not ended with Conn. SSA has initiated similar fraud redetermination proceedings affecting thousands of Social Security beneficiaries in other states and Puerto Rico. There are active fraud redetermination proceedings in New York, Puerto Rico, Florida and Illinois, and ancillary issues with the exclusion of evidence in non-fraud redetermination cases. In addition to the Hicks case, a class action complaint is pending in Puerto Rico. This session will provide representatives with essential resources and practice tips, addressing the expanding occurrence of such redeterminations and related problems and the significant developments in ongoing litigation.
NOSSCR is a bar association for attorneys and advocates who represent Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income claimants throughout the adjudicative process.
