We regularly work for industry coalitions and individual companies on complex international public policy issues and US trade-related legislative issues, developing core arguments and collateral material, formulating strategy, drafting legislation, designing plans of engagement, and helping to implement them through direct engagement with officials at different levels of government, international organizations, policy organizations and the media.
Members of the trade group have played key roles, whether in government or private practice, in many of the most important WTO and bilateral trade negotiations over the past two decades, including the US-China WTO accession agreement and other key US-China bilateral agreements, the WTO Information Technology Agreement, the WTO Basic Telecommunications Agreement, and many of the US and EU bilateral and regional free trade agreements. Members of the group have also been actively involved in key trade-related legislative issues, including the Congressional grant of permanent normal trade relations to China; Congressional approval and implementation of various US free trade agreements; climate change-related legislation; drug importation legislation; Internet-related legislation; and patent reform.
