WilmerHale Recognized for Minority Partners

  • 11.2.2009
The National Law Journal recently recognized WilmerHale as one of Washington DC’s most diverse law firms. Of the large law firms in Washington, only five of them have partnerships composed of at least 10 percent minorities. WilmerHale is among that select group.

The Journal featured comments by WilmerHale Co-Managing Partner Bill Perlstein, who counts WilmerHale’s commitment to diversity as one of the firm’s most important priorities. Perlstein told the Journal that, in addition to mentoring minority associates and offering them opportunities to work on complex, high-profile projects, it is necessary to provide role models for younger lawyers. Perlstein pointed to Partner Ronald Machen, who is African American and co-chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee. “Among the questions young lawyers have, particularly those who are minorities, is, ‘Am I going to get a fair shot?’ Having someone like Ron does say that the firm is willing to put forward diverse lawyers,” said Perlstein.

WilmerHale is especially proud of its minority partners—who, in addition to providing top-notch counsel to our clients in a wide range of practice areas—are leaders in the legal profession, active community members, and devoted mentors to young attorneys.
