Hale and Dorr Appoints Further Leading Intellectual Property Lawyer in London Office

Hale and Dorr is delighted to announce a major addition to their Intellectual Property team in London.

Miles Gaythwaite, recognised for many years as a leading lawyer in the IP field, will join the firm as a consultant with effect from 1 August 2003. Formerly a partner at Bird & Bird, Miles Gaythwaite has a long record of success as a patent litigator and IP licensing lawyer.

A qualified chemist, he cuts across several life science sectors providing advice relating to biotechnology, computer software, copyright, patent and know-how licensing. With a strong focus on life sciences, he has represented major clients such as, Genzyme, Astra (now AstraZeneca), Ciba-Corning Diagnostics, Bracco, and Pasteur Mérieux Connaught.

Miles Gaythwaite's appointment is the fourth IP appointment at Hale and Dorr in 8 months following the recent recruitment of two other, former Bird & Bird partners Robert Barry and Mark Haftke, as well as Dr. Peter Wood, a life sciences specialist.
