WilmerHale has been recognized as a 2021 Technology Trailblazer by The National Law Journal (NLJ) for its Matter Management Services, a flexible and scalable resource designed to help WilmerHale’s lawyers develop a more disciplined approach to budgeting, monitoring matters, leveraging firm resources efficiently and reacting to client feedback.
This recognition highlights innovations that help ease daily tasks taken on by law firms and legal departments. “We are proud to spotlight a handful of companies and products that are truly agents of change,” says Vice President Keith Edwards.
The profile in NLJ features Directors Steven Smith and Shea Twomey-Meuse and highlights how the Matter Management Services brings project management best practices to bear to run the firm like a business.
“Embedding project management principles into the practice helps us keep clients’ business in mind and build better relationships with them,” notes Smith. The data-driven approach allows for clients’ needs to be at the forefront of every stage of a matter, enabling real-time data and insights.
While the Matter Management Services follows the principles guided by simplicity, flexibility and scalability, the firm continues to treat each tool with a unique approach. “We don’t paint every problem with the same brush—we work with different departments and partners in different ways,” says Twomey-Meuse.
