WilmerHale Partners Ogden and Machen Chosen to Monitor Tenet Healthcare
- 4.28.2017
WilmerHale Partners David Ogden and Ronald Machen were chosen to share independent compliance monitorship duties for Tenet Healthcare Corporation, the National Law Journal recently reported.
Tenet and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) jointly selected the WilmerHale partners, pursuant to the terms of the non-prosecution agreement the healthcare giant reached last year with the DOJ, to settle kickback allegations.
Both Ogden and Machen served in the Obama Administration's DOJ. Ogden was Deputy Attorney General, the department's second-highest position, and Machen was US Attorney for the District of Columbia.
“In another sign that independent monitorships are attracting top-shelf legal talent, Tenet Healthcare Corp. has tapped two of Washington's most well-known lawyers to monitor its compliance under a non-prosecution agreement with the federal government," the National Law Journal reported. “The engagement will last three years, according to Tenet's non-prosecution agreement. The Wilmer[Hale] lawyers were formally retained by the company Feb. 1, but not identified publicly by name.”
