This symposium is being held in remembrance of Professor Hans Smit, a long-time Columbia Law School professor and pillar of the international litigation and arbitration community. Professor Smit was the father of "fast-track" arbitration and, more recently, of consultative relationships between parties and the arbitrators. He founded the American Review of International Arbitration and, with Vrat Pechota, constructed the 8-volume work titled "The Smit Guides to International Arbitration."
WilmerHale Senior Counsel James H. Carter will be a featured speaker at this event. He will be speaking on the topic titled, "Party-Appointed Arbitrators: Good or Bad for International Arbitration?" For information on this event, please email [email protected].
