Due to recent FCPA cases involving business activity in Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica and Brazil, it is increasingly important for companies to implement a comprehensive FCPA compliance program. Also, the SEC and the US DOJ have ramped up scrutiny of US companies’ dealings with overseas officials.
As US businesses move more aggressively into emerging markets, including throughout Latin America, it is clear that US businesses must act to ensure its staff and contractors in Latin America scrupulously avoid violations of US laws or fall prey to a "when in Rome" attitude.
