On June 18, WilmerHale’s Washington DC office hosted a panel discussion entitled “Improving Outcomes for African-American Youth Through Education, Law & Policy” as part of the firm’s Diversity Speaker Series. The discussion focused on the positive developments, persistent challenges and promising initiatives for African-American youth from an educational, legal and political perspective. Approximately 80 attendees, including local attorneys, government officials and law students, turned out for the presentation, which was followed by a reception.

The panel featured Jonathan Brice, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the US Department of Education; Roger Fairfax, Professor of Law at The George Washington University; and Tonya Robinson, Special Assistant to the President for Justice and Regulatory Policy at the White House and former partner at WilmerHale. Former Senior Associate Petal Walker, a doctorial graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, moderated the discussion.
