All companies interact with the government in a variety of ways, ranging from the government as customer, funding source, or investor to the government as regulator and—when things go really badly—to the government as prosecutor, judge and jury. This program will discuss substantive areas that frequently raise government compliance issues for public and private companies, including insider trading and SEC disclosure requirements, contract compliance and false claims, sanctions and export controls, and anti-bribery. We will explore best practices for avoiding these issues and methods for engaging with the government when problems arise, including approaches toward whistleblowers, self-disclosure, and negotiated settlements.
WilmerHale Partners Mark Cahn, Lia Der Marderosian, Barry Hurewitz and Jonathan Wolfman were all feature speakers at this event.
