This seminar on the EU and its relationship to WTO law is organised for approximately 20 civil servants of the Council of the European Union’s Legal Service. Theprogramme aims to give a general overview of WTO law from the regulator’s perspective. This seminar focused on topics that are relevant in view of the Council’s role in ensuring that EU legislation is WTO compliant through on the one hand WTO “proofing” legislation before adoption and on the other in adjusting regulatory measures, for example in amending EU legislation found to be non-compliant with WTO law in dispute settlements.
