Stephanie Lin is a litigator in WilmerHale’s Boston office, whose practice focuses on commercial and IP litigation matters. She has recently played key roles in patent, breach of contract, trade secrets and class action trials. Ms. Lin has experience putting on witnesses at trial, oral argument and taking depositions in federal cases. Ms. Lin’s experience also includes an international investigation for a high-profile banking client, contract disputes, arbitration and bankruptcy proceedings.

Ms. Lin also represented the creator of the Pepe the Frog character, in his high-profile copyright enforcement actions against alt-right entities and successfully argued summary judgment in his litigation against Alex Jones’ Infowars. She also has experience with voting rights litigation and ADA litigation.

Ms. Lin is currently on the firm's Community Service Committee, Diversity Committee and the Women's Leadership Initiative Planning Committee. She is on the board of the Women’s Bar Association and is active with the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts. Ms. Lin is also on the board of the Hyde Square Task Force.

Before attending law school, Ms. Lin was a communications professional managing strategic public relations campaigns for technology, life sciences and corporate clients. Ms. Lin received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and her AB in Philosophy from Harvard University.

Experience

    • Landmark patent trial for a major life sciences company against the United States in the U.S. District Court of Delaware.  Assisted in developing equitable defenses strategy, took and defended depositions of key fact witnesses, worked closely with expert witnesses, and prepared witnesses for trial.
    • Breach of contract trial against the United States in the Court of Federal Claims.  Assisted in developing case strategy and trial themes, crossed and defended depositions of key witnesses, worked closely with expert witnesses, drafted key motions, presented at mock trial, and prepared witnesses for trial. 
    • ADA trial on behalf of class of incarcerated people who are deaf or hard of hearing in Massachusetts correctional facilities in U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.  Following a bench trial, the Massachusetts Department of Correction’s (DOC) was found to have violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act by failing to provide an effective emergency alarm system and evacuation procedures for people in custody who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Conducted direct and cross examination of fact and expert witnesses at trial, and assisted in developing trial strategy and preparing closing statements.
