Itsiq Benizri focuses his practice on EU artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity, electronic communications, and competition law. 

Mr. Benizri advises clients on all artificial intelligence, data protection, and cybersecurity compliance issues, including global compliance programs and strategies, internal procedures and policies, outsourcing, security measures, breach notifications, cross-border data flows and interactions with competition law. Mr. Benizri has also been involved in several high-profile judicial and administrative proceedings, both at national and EU level. His experience covers a broad set of sectors, including social media, IT and cloud computing, communications, banking, energy, chemicals, transport, automotive, gaming, pharma, food and beverage, sports, media, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Mr. Benizri is qualified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and an Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Mr. Benizri is also a member of this association. Mr. Benizri is a frequent contributor to the firm's Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Blog.

Regarding competition law, Mr. Benizri advises clients on EU aspects of cartels and merger control proceedings, as well as on e-commerce in general, including online distribution issues. His experience covers various industries, including energy, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and security and financial services.

    • Mr. Benizri has represented clients in cartel investigations initiated by the European Commission and the Belgian and Luxembourg Competition Authorities.

    • Representing Danaher in its $20 billion acquisition of GE Healthcare Life Sciences’ biopharma business (EU Phase I clearance with remedies) 
    • Representing Baker Hughes in relation to Halliburton’s proposed acquisition of the company (a phase 2 case terminated by the parties).
    • Representing a pulp and paper company in a significant acquisition in the industry.
    • Advising an energy company in relation to the creation of a full-function joint venture.
