Bobby Hampton
Senior Associate
Bobby Hampton is a senior associate in the Washington DC office. Mr. Hampton focuses his practice on patent litigation and has experience from proceedings before federal courts, the USPTO and the ITC. He has also litigated trademark, copyright and contract disputes.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Hampton has conducted due diligence on clients’ patent and trademark portfolios and has presented to clients on IP best practices. Further, he has drafted patent applications and responded to office actions.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hampton clerked for the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and was an associate at an IP boutique.
During his final year of law school, Mr. Hampton completed the international and comparative business law program at Bucerius Law School in Germany. Mr. Hampton wrote his law school thesis on the structural and procedural differences between the German and US patent law systems.
Pro Bono
Mr. Hampton maintains an active pro bono practice. He was named to the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll in 2021 in Washington DC for helping immigrants receive work permits and become lawful permanent residents. In 2019 and 2020, Mr. Hampton was named to the Massachusetts Pro Bono Honor Roll for his work in immigration and housing court matters.

- Prosecuted patent applications for chemical and oil & gas companies.
- Represented low-income clients pro bono in housing and immigration matters.
- Counseled companies on IP acquisitions and IP best practices.
- Represented a beverage company in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board opposition and cancellation proceedings.
- Defended a consumer products company in a breach of contract dispute in Louisiana state and district courts.
- Assisted a financial entity to assert trademark and copyright licenses in district court.
