
Anjo David *
Senior Associate
Jose Angelo (Anjo) David is a senior associate in the Litigation/Controversy Department and is a member of the International Arbitration Practice Group.
Mr. David’s practice focuses on commercial and investment treaty arbitration cases. He has represented sovereign states and foreign investors in high-stakes arbitrations under various rules (including the ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules), across a range of industries, such as telecommunications, mining, oil and gas, construction and electric power generation. He has handled disputes across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. He also advises clients on transnational litigation before US courts, including attachment proceedings in aid of arbitration, discovery in aid of foreign proceedings, and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. David was a foreign associate for an international arbitration firm based in Washington DC where he specialized in ad hoc and institutional investment arbitration. He began his legal career as an associate in a top-tier private litigation firm in Manila, Philippines. He then served as an Associate Solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General of the Republic of the Philippines, where he represented the Philippine government in domestic court proceedings, including the Supreme Court, in complex constitutional and regulatory matters. He also represented the government in international commercial and investment disputes. Among others, Mr. David advised the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines in the first-ever investment mediation proceedings under the IBA Rules.
Professional Activities
Mr. David is an advisory board member for the Institute for Transnational Arbitration and serves as assistant editor to the ITA In Review.
