Andrew H. Cohn
Retired Partner
Andrew Cohn joined the firm in 1980 and retired in 2015. Mr. Cohn developed a national practice focusing on all aspects of real estate, energy and environmental law, with more than 30 years of experience handling a wide range of transactions and development projects representing power generators, investors, developers, suppliers and operators in joint ventures, acquisitions, leases, long-term supply contracting and major financing transactions. Mr. Cohn is the former chair of the Real Estate Practice.
Practice
Mr. Cohn's practice included real estate development and finance, equipment leasing, co-generation and waste recycling projects. He handled major transactions in more than 20 states, involving the financing and development of office buildings, research and development facilities, shopping centers, hotels, warehouses and marinas.
Mr. Cohn's real estate clients included Lowe's Companies, Boylston Properties, Bose Corporation and Cabot Corporation. His energy clients included GDF/Suez, Ameresco, Energy Management, Intercontinental Energy, and Cape Wind.
Professional Activities
Mr. Cohn has served as the chair of the Real Estate Section of the Boston Bar Association, as well as chair of the BBA Commercial Real Estate Development and Finance Committee. He speaks frequently on construction lending, development matters and Massachusetts water-rights laws, and is a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Environmental Controls Committee. He also is a member of the Federal Energy Bar Association and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
Mr. Cohn was a fellow at the MIT-Harvard Joint Center for Urban Studies, a Russell Sage Foundation fellow in law and social science, a teaching fellow at Harvard University and a research fellow at University College in Nairobi, Kenya.
He is a member of the Yale Law School Association of Massachusetts and has served as regional representative of the school's alumni association.

- Honored in 2014 for his commitment to providing justice to landlords and tenants by the Boston Bar Association Lawyer for the Day in the Boston Housing Court Program
