Each year The American Lawyer ranks the Am Law 200—the nation’s 200 highest-grossing law firms—by their pro bono score for work done by lawyers based in the US. This year WilmerHale ranked third out of the more than 170 reporting firms. Scores were calculated from the average number of pro bono hours per US lawyer in 2013, and the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work.
Lawyers at WilmerHale maintain a steadfast commitment to pro bono representation. A hallmark of the firm since the early 20th century, there is a strong belief that it is important to provide a voice for those less privileged. This commitment is demonstrated by pro bono contributions that range from cases of national importance before the US Supreme Court to litigation on behalf of individuals who lack the means to secure necessities as fundamental as housing, adequate medical care and a safe home environment.
