Hale and Dorr’s Paul Brountas recently retired after 42 years of service to the firm. Because of his outstanding contribution and dedication to the firm, and at the request of the partners at Hale and Dorr, Mr. Brountas has been asked to continue with the firm as senior counsel.

 

In his newly developed and first of its kind role for the firm, Paul will continue to provide advice and assistance to partners, associates and clients. He will also work closely with the Hale and Dorr Venture Group to expand the practice and advise entrepreneurs in their important startup decisions and financing plans. Mr. Brountas also plans to host a seminar or a series of talks on corporate governance, and to be available to advise boards of directors and corporate executives.

 

During his tenure at the Hale and Dorr, as partner, Mr. Brountas served as chair of the Corporate Department, the Executive Committee and the firm’s Strategic Planning Task Force. He has earned a reputation as one of the nation's leading high technology lawyers. In 1997, The National Law Journal selected him as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America”, and Boston Magazine named him as one of “Boston’s 100 Most Powerful People.” In 1990, Electronic Business Magazine named him one of the top ten high technology lawyers in the United States. He is also listed in the latest edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

 

Mr. Brountas received an LL.B. from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Bowdoin College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is the recipient of a Marshall Scholarship for study at Oxford University, where he received both B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Honors School of Jurisprudence.
