BOSTON - June 24, 2002 -Managing Partner William F. Lee this month became one of five new members elected to Harvard University’s Board of Overseers. At an annual meeting following the University’s 351st Commencement, Harvard Alumni Association President Charles L. Brock announced the results of the election, in which 32,556 degree holders cast ballots.
Of the nine candidates for Board membership, Mr. Lee received the second-highest number of votes, behind Vassar College President Frances Daly Fergusson. Mr. Lee will join the Board of Overseers for a six-year term, during which time he will visit faculties, departments and key programs in order to offer advice on the quality of teaching, research and administration at the University.The primary function of the Board of Overseers is to encourage the University to maintain the highest attainable standards as a place of learning. Current Board members include National Research Council Chair, Bruce M. Alberts, AIDS researcher Dr. David Ho, and United States District Judge Patti B. Saris.
