Firm Earns Perfect Score in 2010 CEI

Firm News
WilmerHale earned a 100 percent rating in the 2010 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an annual survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). This is the second consecutive year WilmerHale has received a perfect CEI score on the survey, which evaluates the treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees in the workplace. Nearly 600 private employers participated in the survey, 127 of which were law firms. Of the firms that participated, 88 received a perfect score.

“Legal work in this country is deeply rooted in our nation’s core values of equality and justice for all, and law firms continue to set the gold standard for treating their LGBT employees fairly,” HRC Foundation President Joe Solmonese said in a recent press release.

The CEI’s criteria assess each business’ LGBT-related non-discrimination policies, domestic partner benefits, availability of diversity councils, advertising and marketing, sponsorship of LGBT community events and organizations, and responsible behavior towards the LGBT community. WilmerHale earned its perfect score by obtaining top marks in all of these areas.

“We are very pleased with the firm’s continued outstanding performance on the Corporate Equality Index,” says Co-Managing Partner Bill Lee. “Maintaining our perfect score reflects the firm's continued efforts to provide policies and programs that support our LGBT community. The values of fairness, inclusion and equality are fundamental to us, and we are proud to be counted among the law firms and companies who are also committed to these values.”
