Erik Swabb Appointed to the Advisory Committee to the ABA Standing Committee on Law and National Security

Partner Erik Swabb was named to the Advisory Committee to the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security.

Swabb leverages over 15 years of national security experience in legal, policy and operational roles. At WilmerHale, his practice focuses on high-stakes investigations, litigation and strategic counseling related to national security, government contracting and other regulatory issues. He previously served as General Counsel of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Special Adviser to the Legal Adviser of the Department of State. Before his legal career, he was a Marine infantry officer and served in combat in Iraq and in the UN peacekeeping mission in Liberia.

The Standing Committee is dedicated to educating the Bar and the public on the importance of the rule of law in preserving the freedoms of democracy and our national security, with a focus on national security-related legal issues, conducting studies, sponsoring programs and organizing working groups. The 11-member Standing Committee also makes recommendations to the ABA on policy positions. The ABA is the world’s largest voluntary association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals.

Partner Stephen Preston is the current chair of the Standing Committee.
