Global Investigations Review (GIR) has ranked WilmerHale fifth in its annual GIR 30 list, which features the best law firms for complex multijurisdictional corporate investigations. This year marks the ninth consecutive year the firm has been ranked among the top five on the list.
The ranking predominantly considers the investigations, resolutions and related trials that a law firm has worked on during the research period. GIR measures firms on their “institutional strengths based on a range of factors – including a firm’s reach, its caseload, appearances before government authorities and more.”
In GIR’s profile on the firm, the publication states “The biggest public case on WilmerHale’s books is its continued representation of Anglo-Swiss commodities trader Glencore. The business agreed a four-agency resolution in 2022 that included subsidiary-level guilty pleas in the United States and United Kingdom in connection with bribery and market manipulation schemes. Partners Howard Shapiro, Kimberly Parker, Erin Sloane and counsel Claire Guehenno represent Glencore in the DOJ’s FCPA case against the company, while partners Christopher Davies and Anjan Sahni represented the company in a parallel market manipulation suit by the DOJ.”
The winners were announced during the annual GIR Awards event in Washington DC on November 16.
