WilmerHale was recently named a top scoring law firm by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) in its inaugural Diversity Scorecard. The firm was one of 20 law firms in the 501+ lawyers category that is “top scoring.”
The MCCA developed the Diversity Scorecard with a mission to enable legal departments and law firms to understand, monitor and measure diversity performance and progress. The Diversity Scorecard offers law firms access to metrics and analysis that can help identify gaps and opportunities for developing more effective Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.
The scorecard comes in response to longtime requests from general counsel for a transparent industry benchmark to assess Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, create actionable policies and drive overall competitive advantage. The system uses 14 years of data from the MCCA’s annual Law Firm Diversity Survey and was developed with several leading general counsel and law firms. Through this process, the scorecard assesses law firms along four key categories, including demographics, recruitment, retention/attrition and promotion for women and diverse groups, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds. The customizable tool allows law firms to benchmark their personal progress against similar sized firms and the overall legal industry.
