WilmerHale is pleased to announce the launch of its podcast, In the Public Interest. The podcast is hosted by WilmerHale Partners John Walsh, former US Attorney for the District of Colorado, and Brendan McGuire, former chief of the Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit for the Southern District of New York. They are joined in each episode by a range of guests who have a front-row seat to the events making headlines today.

“This year has brought tremendous change and it can be challenging to stay informed of developing news and policies day to day,” said Mr. Walsh. “This podcast will take an in-depth look at headline-making issues alongside those who are directly working on them.”

“Inspired by our government background and the legal counsel we provide to clients, we are uniquely positioned to leverage our experience to help listeners gain a deeper understanding of the issues,” said Mr. McGuire.

The first episode of In the Public Interest, available December 8, features Lori E. Lightfoot, the 56th Mayor of Chicago. Mayor Lightfoot is joined in conversation by WilmerHale Partner Debo Adegbile. Mr. Adegbile is the Co-Chair of WilmerHale’s Anti-Discrimination Practice, a Commissioner on the US Commission on Civil Rights, and the former Acting President of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Recently, Mr. Adegbile and a team from WilmerHale assisted Mayor Lightfoot and the US Conference of Mayors in putting together a detailed blueprint for improving policing and promoting equal justice in America’s cities. The interview highlights the challenges of balancing the need to ensure public safety with crafting necessary reforms that protect people’s civil rights, and the importance of working effectively with partners at the city, state and federal level, as well as in the private sector.

The first episode of In the Public Interest is available online or wherever you listen to your podcasts. Subscribe today to receive updates on new episodes.
