On January 29, 2019, Unity Technologies, creator of the world’s most widely used real-time 3D development platform, announced its acquisition of Vivox, provider of cross-platform voice and text communication tools for games. Under the terms of the acquisition, Vivox will become a wholly owned subsidiary and operate independently, continuing to offer cross-platform communication services to game studios and developers of any size. The entire Vivox team will be joining Unity, including Founder & Chief Executive Officer Rob Seaver, and will remain headquartered in Framingham, MA.
Tom Ward led the WilmerHale team representing Vivox in this deal, with a team that included Mike Bevilacqua, Bill Caporizzo, Barry Hurewitz, Scott Kilgore, Doug Edwards, Cara Fonseca, Benjamin Kelsey, Cabell Massey and Meghan Walsh.
