Jamie Gorelick Honored for Lifetime Achievement by The American Lawyer

Recognition

Jamie Gorelick, Washington-based partner and the chair of WilmerHale’s Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, was recognized as a Lifetime Achiever by The American Lawyer. Ms. Gorelick also co-chairs the firm’s Strategic Response Group.

The Lifetime Achievement recognition is reserved only for attorneys who have “reached the highest levels of the public and private spheres—and left an indelible mark every step of the way,” according to The American Lawyer. It honors those who have had “an extraordinary impact on society and the legal profession,” it said.

The American Lawyer highlighted some of Ms. Gorelick’s experience at the most senior levels of government and the private sector, noting that she “has been a steady hand amid crisis and controversy.” The article profiling Ms. Gorelick and accompanying The American Lawyer announcement quoted Seth Waxman, Washington-based partner and co-chair of WilmerHale’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Practice, who said her talent and resume has helped make her into “a premier Washington practitioner.”

In the article, Ms. Gorelick shared her advice to young lawyers: “No. 1, know your stuff. Learn the law and become a really good and grounded lawyer. No. 2, lead with your values and don’t forget them. No. 3, listen to others. No. 4, know when to leave.”

Ms. Gorelick and other honorees will be recognized at an awards reception for The American Lawyer Industry Awards on Wednesday, December 5, at The Lotte Palace in New York.
