On October 4, 2016, Counsel Rachel Weiner Cohen participated in the first of two four-day sessions that comprise the 2016 Federal Circuit Bar Association's Global Fellows Series. The series was established in 2012 by the Federal Circuit Bar Association, with support from the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, with the intention of promoting a higher level of international IP practice among the next generation of leaders in the global legal community. Ms. Cohen is one of only 20 individuals, and six women, selected to take part in this program. 
 
The series brings together a small group of future leaders in the global legal community for an intensive learning program taught by leading judges and practitioners from both the United States and Germany. The first session was held in Washington DC, and the second will take place in Munich, Germany on March 7-10, 2017. The sessions discuss fundamentals of the US, Asian and European patent systems, and provide an opportunity for deep, off-the-record discussion with judges and senior agency members.
 
Individuals are selected to take part in this program, which is intended for intellectual property lawyers—including patent attorneys who have been in practice for 8-15 years—who expect to have a strong international focus in their practice in years to come, and who have achieved recognition within their own organizations as potential future leaders.
